When you heard someone say “Islamic School”, what probably will come to your head? Here is my story about my lovely school, AT-TAUBAH Islamic Elementary School. It’s located in Pulo Mas, East Jakarta. Unlike the others, my school is rather different. We have lots of activities that can explore our talents and skills.

As the vision and mission of the school in creating the ‘Akhlakul Karimah’ students, it gives us many religion activities everyday. Before we start the lessons, we always read the Holy Qur’an together, called ‘Tadarus’. That’s why, when we graduate from the school, we will have finished it or ‘Khotam’. Besides the regular religion activities, such as: Dhuha Pray, Dzuhur Pray, ‘Keputrian’; we also have the outdoor religion activities, like: making Parcel to give to the orphanage in Pesantren Ramadhan, The talented occasion that we do in the ‘Hijriah” new year, we are also a participant in the ‘LOKETA’, we celebrate the ‘IDUL ADHA’ in our school. Those activities build up our soul, but Being healthy inside is not enough for us, our school has won the national health school competition in 2006.

The school has given us many facilities to support the learning activities that we do each days. We have a Languages laboratory that provides the multimedia for us to learn English, Arabic and Bahasa Indonesia. It makes us easier to comprehended those languages. It also helps the students to be more active and prepared themselves for many languages competition outside our school, Just like the goal that we have reached We became the first winner of written test that held by the Labs Junior High School. Even more than that, in the competition, We brought the second winner trophy. We also have an Audio Visual room to explore our talents and skills in art. And to improve our IT skill, there is a CAL institution licensed from Australia that always stands by everyday with the IT facilities and lessons. Not to forget our canteen, it can be assumed to be the biggest canteen in Jakarta.

How about the extracurricular ? in At- Taubah there are a lot of activities, we have Drum band, Science club, painting, Jari pandai, Footsal , Marawis, Taekwondo, Angklung and traditional dance. Those activities have reached many achievements. Our drum band, GEMA AT- TAUBAH, has won lots of competitions.


But what I like most from my school is the hospitality of the teachers. They are very nice, cool, smart and friendly. Every morning, they always stand at the gate waiting for us, saying “assalamu’alaikum” ( Salam Ceria ) while remaining whether we have prayed shubuh or not, with their smiley and happy faces that make us feel so comfort and feel like HOME!!!!
